Executive Director: Bennie B. Baek

Bennie’s calling in life is to “stand in the gap for those who can’t stand for themselves.” Her parents were divorced when she was three years old. She grew up in a harsh environment without her parents and their safe protection in her formative years.

 Having had to fight for healing and restoration in her own life, Bennie is passionate about educating, engaging, and empowering those who are hurting, especially children. 

Bennie has dedicated 25 years to special education and has a strong commitment to give voice to the “voiceless” and to empower people to learn so they can make choices that will lead to a life of joy and purpose. 

 Bennie has led Care Net since February of 2017.

Volunteer Coordinator: Karen Hofer

Karen began volunteering at Care Net when her family moved to Redding in 1988. Since then her roles have included receptionist, hotline advocate, client advocate, hotline coordinator, and since 2012 Volunteer Coordinator.

In her role as Volunteer Coordinator, she feels honored and blessed to oversee the training and equipping of Care Net’s volunteers that work directly with clients. Karen is passionate about seeing men’s and women’s lives transformed through their understanding of how precious and valuable they are.  

Karen resides in Redding with her husband Ron and enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.





Office Manager/Bookkeeper: Elysha Kralka

Elysha was born and raised in metro Detroit,

Michigan. She attended a ministry school in Charlotte where she met her husband.  They married and moved to Florida to minister at a church for five years.

While in Florida Elysha worked and ministered at an organization that provided housing for pregnant women in need of love and support.  Elysha has worked at several non-profit organizations throughout the years in managerial roles, and she loves to see her environment flourish and prosper.  She currently works at Care Net as the Office Manager and bookkeeper.

Receptionist: Paula Lumley

Paula is originally from Missouri. She and her two children moved to Redding in 2014 where she has been going to school for the past three years.

Paula has volunteered in several different aspects throughout the city in her years here. She loves people and helping others.

Upon graduation from school Paula started working at Care Net where she is the Receptionist.

Client Services Coordinator: Deb Fink

Deb and husband Vic moved to Redding in June 2016 from Missoula, MT where she was an advocate at Care Net for 9 years and served on the board from 2014-2016. She currently serves as an advocate and is also the Client Services Coordinator.

Deb is passionate about meeting the needs of our clients by providing them with relevant tools for parenting, healthy relationships, and effective communication. She also loves being a life coach and enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the beauty of the West Coast, cooking, yoga and Pilates. Deb has a daughter and son-in-law who live in Redding and a son, daughter-in-law and a beautiful 2 year-old granddaughter who live in Charlotte, NC.

Boutique Inventory Associate: Deborah Shaw

Deborah has lived in the Redding area since 1987 and loves Northern California, especially its lakes.

She loves to fly airplanes and ride motorcycles.

Deborah was in a nearly fatal motorcycle accident in March 2004. The doctors did not expect her to live, but she overcame the odds and has made a great recovery. In July 2007 she began serving as an advocate at Care Net where she enjoys helping clients improve the lives of their children and themselves.

Deborah now works part-time at Care Net as the Boutique Coordinator enjoying the opportunity to help the center & the clients any way she can.

Executive Assistant: Steve Martens

In 2013 Steve and his wife Kathy returned to Redding to retire, having lived in the Redding area for 15 years in the past. With 25 years of experience in administration, Steve found serving as a volunteer at Care Net a good fit and a unique opportunity.

As Executive Assistant to Executive Director Bennie Baek, Steve enjoys helping develop the behind-the-scenes infrastructure that supports the growing outreach of Care Net.
