Meet the Team
Care Net Pregnancy Center of Northern California
Executive Director: Bennie Baek
Bennie’s calling in life is to “stand in the gap for those who can’t stand for themselves” and Isaiah 61 has been the guiding scriptures in her life. She has heeded this call by choosing a career in special education. For 25 years, she has served by teaching special needs students, training and mentoring teachers, advocating for families, consulting and auditing educational institutions, and in administration. Thirteen of those years were spent mobilizing “workers” to the unreached people groups and living amongst those who have no access to the Good News by impacting the education sector in remote parts of the world.
She is passionate about serving and empowering families and children to thrive and live joyfully in the Lord. She is excited and honored to lead the Care Net family and together stand in the gap for “the unborn” and their families.
She has three fun loving children and a husband who loves the Lord and his family.
Advocate Director: Karen Hofer
Karen and her family moved to Redding in 1988 from Central California. That year Karen began volunteering at Care Net Pregnancy Center and throughout the years, her roles have progressed: receptionist, hotline advocate, client advocate, hotline coordinator, and since the summer of 2012, Advocate Director.
In her latest role as Advocate Director, she is both honored and blessed in overseeing the training and equipping of the volunteers that work directly with our clients.
Karen is passionate about seeing our city transformed. She enjoys spending time with her family and going on hike in the beautiful outdoors of Shasta County. Karen resides in Redding, CA with her husband Ron.
Office Manager: Elysha Kralka
Elysha was born and raised in metro Detroit, Michigan. After studying at Oakland University, she moved to North Carolina to attend a ministry school in Charlotte where she met her husband. They married and moved to Florida to minister at a church for five years. Recently, Elysha and her husband relocated here to Redding in order to attend a local church and to become a part of the community.
While in Florida, amongst various volunteer efforts, Elysha worked and ministered at an organization that provided housing for pregnant women in need of love and support. Her desire is to see her residing community come together in love and unity, overcoming differences, and that would strive to create a world that would believe in and support one another.
Elysha enjoys activities of many kinds, including running, hiking, and yoga. Her favorite way to relax is outside with a cup of tea and a good book. She always looks forward to her next visit to Michigan to see beloved family.
